Arts Learning Grants support meaningful activities that reach K-12 students and teachers through partnerships between artists and arts organizations and the schools/and or community. One time events or projects will not be as competitive as grants that demonstrate and encourage cooperation and networking among teachers, artists, students and communities to make the arts integral to learning.
Poetry Out Loud Call Deb Vaughn503-986-0085 The Oregon Arts Commission, with support from the National Endowment for the Arts and the National Poetry Foundation, announces “Poetry Out Loud”, a national initiative that will involve students in the study and public recitation of classic poetry. Recitation contests will take place at participating high schools across Oregon this fall and winter. Winners from each high school will participate in a statewide competition in Salem in Spring, 2008. Oregon’s winner will receive an all-expense paid trip to Washington D.C. to participate in the National Finals. The “Poetry Out Loud” National Champion will be awarded a college scholarship of at least $20,000.
