- Offering Ten $25,000 Awards -
Five to California Artists, Five to Oregon/Washington Artists
PASADENA, CA-California, Oregon and Washington visual artists whose work demonstrates high artistic merit for 20 or more years are invited to apply for the 5th biennial Flintridge Foundation Awards for Visual Artists. Five mature artists from California and five from Oregon/Washington will be selected by separate regional panels to receive unrestricted grants of $25,000 each. Applicants must work in the visual arts disciplines of fine arts and crafts and have lived at least nine months per year in the tri-state region for the past three years. The Awards are intended to encourage artists who do not have current national renown. Flintridge has awarded $1.15 million to 46 individual artists since the Awards for Visual Artists were first presented in 1997/1998.
The application for the 2005/2006 Awards for Visual Artists is an eGRANT application that will be posted April 4, 2005 on the Foundation website - www.FlintridgeFoundation.org. The electronic form is filled out and submitted online. The deadline for entries is Thursday, June 30, 2005.
"The Awards grew out of a deep desire to provide direct support to individual artists. They acknowledge not only extraordinary talent, creativity and imagination, but also unflagging courage, optimism and lifelong commitment," said Alex Moseley, Founding Board member. "Our aim is to bring more awareness to those distinctive, creative voices who, despite years of professional activity and achievements, have not received a commensurate level of recognition beyond their region or outside a particular discipline."
