About the Collection

Oregon was one of the first states in the nation to pass Percent for Art legislation, placing works of art in public spaces throughout the state. Since 1975, Oregon citizens have taken part in the selection of artwork for their state's higher education campuses and government facilities.

The state art collection now includes more than 2,400 artworks: drawings, paintings, mixed media, photography, original prints, sculpture, ceramics, glass, mosaics, murals, textiles and both site-specific and structurally integrated art installations. More than 800 artists are represented in Oregon’s Percent for Art Collection. Their work has been celebrated and supported with commissions throughout the program’s history.
