In Echo: Grant keeps musicians traveling

In a town of only 700 people, more than 100 Echo residents attended both concerts by the Inland Northwest Musicians in December. Attendance has increased so dramatically in the 16 years the group has been visiting that, though tickets are free, attendees must register in advance to attend. In fact, the two-day event has become a holiday festival, with local merchants hosting booths outside the community center.

The Oregon Community Foundation to partner with Oregon Arts Commission to provide additional Career Opportunity Grants funding for literary and performing artists

A new partnership between The Oregon Community Foundation and the Oregon Arts Commission will provide an additional  Career Opportunity Grant funding opportunity for literary and performing arts artists this spring. Applicants may apply for up to $1,500 from the Arts Commission and up to an additional $7,500 from The Oregon Community Foundation. The partnership mirrors a similar collaboration between the Arts Commission and The Ford Family Foundation for grants to visual artists.

$190,000 awarded in 30 Arts Build Communities grants

Salem, Ore. – Art as a means to address community need is reflected in 30 Oregon projects awarded $190,000 in 2016 Arts Build Communities grants from the Oregon Arts Commission.

Vacant downtown storefronts become celebrations of community in Corvallis; Fishtrap inspires 1,700 in Wallowa County to read Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town” before engaging in discussions, events and activities about rural isolation and community; and in Portland Sisters of the Road will produce "On the Ground," a short film exploring the history and root causes of homelessness in Portland.

Arts Commission announces Small Operating Grant program

A two-year pilot grant program designed to provide operating support to arts organizations with budgets under $150,000 is now open at the Oregon Arts Commission. Applications for the first round of funding will be accepted until 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 16, at http://oregon.culturegrants.org/. Eligibility is limited to organizations that have operated as an IRS recognized 501(c)(3) nonprofit for two years or more.

23 Oregon artists receive $50,051 in 2015 Career Opportunity Grants

In the second of three rounds of 2015 Career Opportunity Grants, the Oregon Arts Commission and The Ford Family Foundation have awarded $50,051 to 23 artists for career development projects. The awards include $32,701 from the Oregon Arts Commission and $17,350 in supplemental funding for eight artists through a partnership with The Ford Family Foundation. Individual grants range from $700 to $6,670.
