Liora Sponko of Lane Arts Council named Community Arts Coordinator

Salem, Oregon – Liora Sponko, the executive director of the Lane Arts Council, is the new Community Arts Coordinator for the Oregon Arts Commission. Sponko rose above a highly competitive field of candidates to succeed Brian Wagner in the position, responsible for supporting the statewide arts community in ensuring access to the arts for Oregonians.

36 projects addressing community needs through the arts receive $205,386 in Arts Build Communities grants awards

Salem, Ore. – Using the arts as a means of addressing community need is at the heart of 36 projects awarded $205,386 by the Oregon Arts Commission’s Arts Build Communities grant program for FY2020. The Arts Build Communities program targets broad geographic impact and arts access for underserved audiences in Oregon.

138 arts organizations receive more than $1.1 million in Operating Support Grants from the Oregon Arts Commission

Creative minds at 138 Oregon arts organizations will be empowered by $1,118,435 in fiscal year 2020 Operating Support Grants from the Oregon Arts Commission.

Ranging from $3,114 to $ 29,924, the grants are available to nonprofit organizations with arts at the core of their mission and budgets over $150,000*.

“We often hear that these are the most important grants we award,” said Arts Commission Chair Anne Taylor. “They alleviate some of the economic pressure and allow Oregon arts organizations to focus on their missions.”

24 Oregon artists receive Career Opportunity Grants

Salem, Oregon – In the final competitive rounds of FY2018 Career Opportunity Grants, the Oregon Arts Commission, The Ford Family Foundation and The Oregon Community Foundation have collectively awarded $53,419 to 24 artists for career development projects. The awards include $18,469 from the Oregon Arts Commission; $22,400 in supplemental funding for nine artists through a partnership with The Ford Family Foundation; and $12,500 for four artists from The Oregon Community Foundation. Individual grants range from $800 to $8,350.
