Salem, Oregon – In celebration of the uplifting power of art and its value to Oregonians’ quality of life, Governor Kate Brown today announced a call for nominations for the 2020 Governor’s Arts Awards. Established in 1977, the awards are held periodically as funding allows. A call for 2020 nominations is now posted on the Arts Commission website.
Federal Relief Efforts
Americans for the Arts worked with a consortium of funders to announce the creation of the Artist Relief Fund, a $10 million national emergency relief fund for artists and creative workers that will provide $5,000 no-strings-attached grants. It is intended for anyone who earns income from their creative or artistic practice and who has also been affected by COVID-19.
Salem, Oregon – Liora Sponko, the executive director of the Lane Arts Council, is the new Community Arts Coordinator for the Oregon Arts Commission. Sponko rose above a highly competitive field of candidates to succeed Brian Wagner in the position, responsible for supporting the statewide arts community in ensuring access to the arts for Oregonians.
Salem, Ore. – Using the arts as a means of addressing community need is at the heart of 36 projects awarded $205,386 by the Oregon Arts Commission’s Arts Build Communities grant program for FY2020. The Arts Build Communities program targets broad geographic impact and arts access for underserved audiences in Oregon.
Small grants that often make a large difference in ensuring arts access for Oregonians, especially in rural areas, have been awarded to 101 statewide arts organizations by the Oregon Arts Commission for FY2020.
Creative minds at 138 Oregon arts organizations will be empowered by $1,118,435 in fiscal year 2020 Operating Support Grants from the Oregon Arts Commission.
Ranging from $3,114 to $ 29,924, the grants are available to nonprofit organizations with arts at the core of their mission and budgets over $150,000*.
“We often hear that these are the most important grants we award,” said Arts Commission Chair Anne Taylor. “They alleviate some of the economic pressure and allow Oregon arts organizations to focus on their missions.”
Creative minds at 121 Oregon arts organizations will be empowered by $1,031,593 in fiscal year 2019 Operating Support Grants from the Oregon Arts Commission.
Ranging from $3,000 to $ 29,750, the grants are available to nonprofit organizations with arts at the core of their mission and budgets over $150,000*.
Salem, Oregon – In the final competitive rounds of FY2018 Career Opportunity Grants, the Oregon Arts Commission, The Ford Family Foundation and The Oregon Community Foundation have collectively awarded $53,419 to 24 artists for career development projects. The awards include $18,469 from the Oregon Arts Commission; $22,400 in supplemental funding for nine artists through a partnership with The Ford Family Foundation; and $12,500 for four artists from The Oregon Community Foundation. Individual grants range from $800 to $8,350.
Whether designing giant sea sculptures from ocean trash or raising the bar for contemporary dance choreography, creative minds at 127 Oregon arts organizations will be empowered by $1,214,638 in fiscal year 2017 Operating Support Grants from the Oregon Arts Commission.
Ranging from $3,500 to $44,096, the grants are available to nonprofit organizations with arts at the core of their mission and budgets over $150,000*.
