A new sculptural installation by Heather Watkins now installed at Portland State University

"Score," a wall-mounted sculptural drawing by Heather Watkins, is the newest permanent public art installation at Portland State University. A sculptural drawing created from cotton cord molded into fluid forms, the artwork is installed in the North Atrium of PSU’s Lincoln Performance Hall. It becomes part of the public art collections of PSU and the State of Oregon.

Joe Manis

By James Bash

“Freewheeling, eclectic, yet traditional” are some of the words that come to mind when trying to describe the type of jazz that saxophonist Joe Manis creates. Manis, though only 30 years old, already has 11 years of professional gigs under his belt as the leader of the Joe Manis Trio, but that doesn’t take into account all of the work that Manis has done with other groups like the Cherry Poppin’ Daddies of which he has been a member since 2006 or the Boston-based Ken Shaphorst Big Band, which he joined in 2007.
